I-Bridge X opens up new opportunities

"With I-Bridge X it became clear that it is possible to attach fixtures in different directions in the structure and still achieve a good result." says Göran Esters, a dentist in Arvika. "Previously, it was sometimes difficult to install fixtures where the patient's legs allowed and the technician had to work under difficult conditions."

"I am thinking in particular of a patient who was strangled by his prosthesis and therefore unable to use it. The conditions were difficult, but with the help of the I-Bridge X, we were able to find a good solution. The patient had seen several dentists in the past but no one had wanted to operate on him."

In 2010, Göran started working with dental technician Martin Fernlöf, also from Arvika. Together they managed to get the fixtures where they could attach the implant.
"The result was fantastic and my patient is very satisfied." says Göran.

Göran trained as a dentist in 1970 in Umeå and then worked at Folktandvården in Arvika for several years. He was in a large clinic where he got to work with many experienced colleagues. At that time, there was a lot of talk about money in the County Council. It was not as much about quality and giving the patients what they needed. The need for dental care was great in Värmland. After a few years, Göran was asked to join a colleague with a private practice and since then he has run his own business.

The importance of keeping fit
In the 1980s, it became possible to give patients their own teeth instead of dentures.
"I did a lot of prosthetics during those years and worked up to 75 hours a week with patients. It has always been a great satisfaction for me to do a good job and be needed." says Göran.
"In the early 2000s, I attended an implant course at Nobel Biocare. After the course, I started operating immediately. And felt that it was fantastic to be able to help patients with major problems."

"This led me to work all the time, but with the most fun I know. Thanks to a lifetime of exercise, I have stayed in good shape! I do cardio, run, go for long walks, and have been competing in the sport of dog sledding for many years. In these pandemic times, working with a visor and mouth guard all the time is just like high-altitude training." says Göran.

Göran, now 72 years old, has about 50 patients a week and is sometimes free on Fridays.
"What has been crucial for me to continue in the profession over the years is the joy of helping other people. Today I do about 15 operations a year, we take our time with the preparations but I am quick with the actual operation." Göran concludes.
